Des Plaines, IL. ― Batory Foods, a leading national distributor of high-quality food ingredients, will be hosting a Solutions Workshop for the Supply & Value Chain Center (SVCC) and Chicagoland Food and Beverage Network on February 22nd. The workshop will begin with special guest presentations to address the developing changes in the transportation industry. This will be followed by small group discussions.
Vito Parise, Group Director of Transportation at Batory Foods, will be speaking as a special guest to provide insight into the challenges of the modern transportation industry, as well as discuss some of the innovative solutions that are available today. In his presentation Vito will address the deficit trends of new to retiring drivers, challenges of the current load-to-driver ratio, possible implications of ELD’s, industry projections for the next five years, and the benefits of collaboration and cooperation.
In addition to his role at Batory Foods, Vito holds a Bachelor of Science in Logistics and Transportation Management, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and has 27 years of experience in the transportation and distribution industries. He has been an active member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals for 23 years and has received highest awards from his employers for his work several times.
The event is open to SVCC and Chicagoland Food & Beverage Network members for $35 and to the public for a $50 fee. It will be held from 7:30am to 10am on February 22nd at Batory Foods Corporate Headquarters, 1700 E. Higgins Rd., Suite 300, Des Plaines, IL 60018.

Batory Foods is proud to announce that Amy Gililand, a Batory Technical Service Manager, will be speaking on trends, types, and applications of vegetable proteins at an upcoming meeting for the Long Island Institute of Food Technologists.
Protein ingredients are in high demand, as over two thirds of people aim to consume moderate to high amounts of protein, according to a study by Datamonitor, and since 54% of people globally eat low or no-meat diets, vegetable proteins have taken a particularly strong role in the market. Now more than ever it is crucial to stay informed as new trends evolve.
Amy is a valued member of the Batory team, with more than 25 years of experience in the industry and a B.S. in Chemistry, Foods and Nutrition, as well as an M.S. in Applied Chemistry. Amy has held positions in product development, analytical chemistry, research and development management, and technical service. An active member of the IFT organization, Amy has also served as the program lead for Food, Health, and Nutritional tracks at several recent IFT events.

On Friday, February 5, Batory Foods team members from coast to coast donned red attire in support of the American Heart Association’s “National Wear Red Day.” Participants - from locations including Atlanta, Commerce, Des Plaines, Garland, Hayward, Oakley and Union City – joined thousands of businesses nationwide celebrating the event. “We received an overwhelmingly positive response to the Go Red for Women® initiative,” says Rita Ramirez, Corporate Excellence Manager. “Overall, our participation as a company was amazing.
